WHY WE EXIST

Built Lekker… for South Africa

Call quality in South Africa has to survive variable last-mile connectivity and a copper network Telkom has spent a decade retiring. Number portability runs through a local regulator. Call recording has to satisfy POPIA.

So in 2013 we stopped adapting foreign software and built our own — then licensed it properly and put it on infrastructure we control.

LICENSING

Anyone can call themselves a provider. Not everyone may carry your calls.

Othos Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd holds an Individual ECS licence from ICASA, with national coverage — the heavier of the two tiers. Many providers hold a class licence. Many more hold none, and resell somebody else’s service.

Someone is answerable

A licensee has obligations it can be held to, and a regulator that can enforce them.

You have recourse

ICASA’s Complaints Committee hears complaints — but only against licensees.

Your numbers are safe

ICASA administers SA’s numbering plan. Your 021 or 011 number, and your right to port it, sit inside it.

Built for local conditions, supported from Cape Town.

No contracts

Month to month. Leave whenever, keep your number.

We own the stack

Our AWS cluster, not a platform we rent.

THE TEAM

People you can name

Our engineering, support, finance and account teams are all in South Africa.

MEET THE CO-FOUNDER

The phone call is still a black box.

The phone call is still a black box.

Every click and scroll your business makes is tracked and measured. The phone call isn’t — no data, no insight, no control. Just cost. That’s the problem I’ve spent a decade solving, and why we build the platform ourselves.

Rodrigo sets strategy and owns execution at Othos — the commercial and operational calls that decide what gets built, and when. He works across digital products and go-to-market for business, and has spent his career shipping in complex environments. His current focus is the AI layer: telecom software built to replace legacy business phone systems, not sit on top of them.

NC

Nelson Camargo

CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Leads the engineering behind the platform — infrastructure, softphones, the PBX itself. Owns strategy and execution, which is why Othos ships rather than roadmaps.

EK

Eric Kietzmann

HEAD OF SALES

Not a typical sales lead, and customers notice — more interested in a long relationship of trust than a fast deal. You’ll probably speak to him first.

TK

Thomas Kietzmann

SUPPORT LEAD

Runs support, which here means more than a ticket queue. When you phone, someone who knows the system answers. No offshore script.

JC

Jerien Compion

FINANCIAL MANAGER

Keeps the commercial side straight — billing, reporting, and the discipline that lets us stay month to month. Also shapes how Othos looks.

MF

Marina Ferraz

MARKETING & BRAND

Leads marketing and brand, building the strategies that grow awareness and telling the story behind the company. Insists we only claim what we can prove.

GY

Gokalp Yalcin

IT MANAGER

Keeps our own systems running. The phone company’s phone system has to be the one that never goes down.

FAQ

Questions people ask about us

Who is Othos Telecom?

Othos Telecom is the trading name of Othos Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd, a South African telecoms operator based in Cape Town. Founded in 2011 and trading in South Africa since 2014, we provide business VoIP and Cloud PBX to companies from single-office SMEs to multi-branch groups, on our own platform.

Is Othos an ICASA-licensed provider?

Yes. Othos Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd holds an Individual Electronic Communications Service (I-ECS) licence from ICASA with national coverage. Verify it on ICASA’s public register — search our registered entity name, not the trading name Othos Telecom.

Is Othos a South African company?

Yes. Othos is South African, based in Cape Town at 20 Cumberland Road, with engineering and support teams in the country. We support businesses in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, and provide 021, 011, 031 and 010 numbers nationwide.

Does Othos own its infrastructure, or resell another provider’s?

We run our own platform on a distributed AWS cluster and hold our own ICASA licence — not a white-labelled service, which is why our engineers fix things rather than log a ticket with somebody else. Live status is published at status.othos.co.za.

Is Othos POPIA compliant?

Call recordings are stored securely and handled in line with POPIA, and our privacy policy sets out how we process personal information. As an ICASA licensee we also publish a Code of Conduct.

GET STARTED

Switching is the part everyone worries about.

You keep your 021, 011 or 031 number — we handle the port, with no downtime. Your team is live in one business day, and it stays month to month. If it doesn’t work, you leave.

Prefer to talk now?

No obligation. No contracts. We call back the same business day.
