TIME CONDITIONS
BENEFITS
What Time Conditions do for your business
Once configured, your call routing runs itself — 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
No more forgotten switches
No one needs to remember to change the routing at close of business. Time Conditions switch automatically — your Friday afternoon call goes to the team, your Saturday morning one goes to voicemail. Every time.
Always-on professionalism
Callers outside business hours hear a professional message — not an unanswered ringing phone. You control exactly what they hear and where they're directed at every hour of the day.
Public holiday scheduling
Set your SA public holiday schedule in advance — Heritage Day, Human Rights Day, Christmas, all of them. The routing changes automatically on the day and reverts the next morning without a single manual step.
After-hours call capture
Route after-hours calls to voicemail-to-email so every message lands in your inbox. Or forward to an on-call mobile for urgent situations. No call goes unanswered — just handled differently.
Works with every feature
Time Conditions plug into your entire Othos setup — IVR menus, ring groups, voicemail, call queues. Different times of day can trigger completely different call flows for a seamless caller experience.
Instant updates, live changes
Need to close early? Update your time condition in the Othos dashboard and it takes effect immediately — no reboot, no downtime, no IT support needed. Changes live the moment you save them.
HOW IT WORKS
Set it once, let it run forever
Time Conditions run in the background automatically once configured. Here's how a typical setup works.

Can I set different routing for different days of the week?
Yes. You can configure different rules per day — for example, Monday to Thursday 08:00–17:30, Friday 08:00–16:00, Saturday 09:00–13:00, and Sunday closed with all calls going to voicemail. Each day can have its own start time, end time and destination.
Can I schedule South African public holidays in advance?
Yes. You can add specific dates as holiday overrides and assign a custom routing destination for each one — a recorded message, voicemail, or emergency redirect. Set them all at the start of the year and the PBX applies the correct routing automatically on each date.
What happens if I need to close unexpectedly?
Log in to your Othos dashboard and update your time condition — changes take effect immediately with no restart or downtime. You can temporarily override your schedule for a specific day without changing your normal recurring rules, then revert just as easily.
Can I have a lunch break routing rule?
Yes. You can create a mid-day time window — for example, 13:00–14:00 — and route calls during that period to a specific queue, voicemail, or message. Some businesses use this to reduce queue pressure during lunch when fewer agents are available.
How do Time Conditions work with my Auto-Attendant?
Your Auto-Attendant uses Time Conditions as its first decision point. When a call arrives, the IVR checks the current time against your conditions and routes accordingly — business hours callers hear your full menu, after-hours callers hear your out-of-office message. The two features work together seamlessly.
